2: The first non-fictitious woman to appear on United States coinage was Susan B. Anthony.

3: Ruth Graves Wakefield invented the first chocolate-chip cookie – the Toll House Cookie. In fact, you can still see her original recipe today, as it is printed on the back of all Nestlé chocolate bars.

4: In 1849, Elizabeth Blackwell became the first woman in the United States to receive a medical degree. She received it from the Medical Institution of Geneva, New York.

5: In 1924, golfer Edith Cummings became the first female athlete to be featured on the cover of Time magazine.
