Catherine the Great’s roller coaster

Here’s an interesting bit of history I learned today!

A fun thing to do in Russia in the 18th century was sledding down giant snow slopes that were lined with wooden support beams. Catherine the Great of Russia didn’t want to wait until winter to do this, so she devised a system with grooved tracks and wheeled carts, so that it could be used all year long! This was, essentially, the first roller coaster.

Hope you enjoyed this little bit of history. Got any facts like this for me? Let me know in the comments!

I know zane personally and he is one of the most intelligent people I have met, although I have only known him for a brief time he has been a great friend to me. And my fact to zane is the odds of winning the lottery is the same odds as getting mauled by a polar bear and a regular bear in the same day!!!!!!!
