20130518-081413.jpg
Now, what’s this doing here? Just an anomaly, I’m sure…

20130518-081605.jpg
…Okay, or not.

After this, we ate at Cracker Barrel, and drove into the wee hours of the morning. We arrived at home at about 7:30. Good to be home again. See you later!

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Hey! Only a few pics to show, today was mostly just driving.

20130516-233532.jpg
This is the very spot that Abraham Lincoln spent his first few years in. He clearly didn’t live in that nice stone temple – that’s just a monument.

20130516-233700.jpg
This is the world’s largest bat.

20130516-233732.jpg
This is also the world’s largest bat.

20130516-233833.jpg
Not sure who this guy is. Maybe David (from the bible) or Apollo (from Greek Mythology).

That’s really it for today. Heading home tomorrow!

Pics from Nashville

Hey! Sorry about not posting last night, I got to bed at about midnight. Here are pics from my day in Nashville.

20130516-130708.jpg
Store from American Pickers (a pawn shop show on TV).

20130516-130909.jpg
Rocket fizz candy shop in downtown.

20130516-131029.jpg
In this other sweets shop, a train ran along the ceiling!

20130516-131144.jpg
Parthenon replica (some of you Percy Jackson fans may recognize this as a location from the first book).

20130516-131542.jpg
Athena statue inside the Parthenon (location of one of the pearls from the film adaption of The Lightning Thief).

After all this traveling, we had a nice, hearty dinner at Jack’s Bar-B-Que. Heading to Kentucky today!

Location: Nashville, Tennessee

And now I’m heading back! I’ll be staying in Nashville tonight and tomorrow night too. Today, I visited Craigshead Caverns and got a look at a fancy hotel I’ll be staying at tomorrow night! Here’s some pics.

20130514-214211.jpg
The entrance to the caverns.

20130514-214312.jpg
The “cascades”.

20130514-214354.jpg
The “Indian council chamber” (sorry for bad quality. Not much light in there).

20130514-214508.jpg
“Devil’s Hole”. Legend has it that if you look in the hole and see the Devil’s face, you haven’t been a very good person!

20130514-214618.jpg
An authentic Tennessee Moonshine still. On a related note, there was originally a secret bar hidden in the cave, called the “Cavern Tavern”. Eventually it was found, and, well, removed.

20130514-214820.jpg
Craigshead Caverns is home to America’s largest underground lake, at four and a half acres! There is another lake behind the wall that is currently inaccessible, measuring 9 acres!

Rainbow trout feeding frenzy.

Now for fancy hotels, I know you’ve been waiting…

20130514-215209.jpg
Yes, this is a HOTEL. What’s even crazier is that all this is INSIDE.

20130514-215341.jpg
Inside.

20130514-215400.jpg
Inside.

20130514-215427.jpg
And inside again!

Afterwards, we ate dinner at Aquarium, a cool seafood place with a big aquarium you can sit next to. We’ll be able to explore the town more tomorrow. See you then!

Pics from Atlanta

Hey! Today in Atlanta I visited the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola. Here’s some pics for your enjoyment.

20130513-221342.jpg
The vault in which the secret formula is stored (actually, after a quick Internet search, I find it hard to see why they still refer to the recipe as “secret”).

Afterwards, we had a nice dinner at Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria. Heading to Nashville tomorrow!

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

We have arrived at our destination! Today we checked out Stone Mountain in Georgia. Afterwards, we ate at nice Mexican-Latin place called JalapeƱo Charlie’s. We will be staying in Atlanta one more night, and then it’s on to Nashville!

Location: Asheville, North Carolina

We have reached North Carolina! Today, we checked out the Skyline Caverns in Virginia, and also drove across the Skyline Drive. For dinner we ate at Juicy Lucy’s, a great little burger bar. See you tomorrow!
