Neil Armstrong quote

Here’s an awesome quote I read from Neil Armstrong! “It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn’t feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.” In 2009 we lost Michael Jackson. Now we have lost Neil Armstrong. We are running out of moonwalkers.

3 things I learned August 17

Sorry everyone! I forgot all about posting! Anyways, today was the day where we said our farewells and left for the year. This is the the end, unfortunately, for facts this year. However, you can get more facts next year, and I will still continue to post interesting stuff!

3 things I learned August 16

Today was the Crab Race, the Egg Toss, and the Raffle. Of course, I didn’t win anything, but I had fun anyway!

3 things I learned August 15

Here is what I learned in the middle of the week! Hydrothermal vents were first discovered in 1977. The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute was founded in 1930. And the first working submarine was built in, believe it or not, 1620! See you tomorrow!

3 things I learned August 14

Here is what I learned for Tuesday of my last week at Sealab! To start, in total, there are five oceans in the world. The sea near Australia is called the Tasman Sea. And for the last fact of the day, the Black Sea is named for its color! See you all tomorrow!

3 things I learned August 13

This is the last week for facts, unfortunately! However, this week is Shark Week, so the facts will be bigger and better. The difference between a submersible and a submarine is that a submarine just goes underwater, but doesn’t go down very deep, whereas a submersible goes straight down to the depths. If you drop even a small amount of blood into the water, sharks thousands of feet away can smell it! And lastly, the part of a scallop that you eat is called the adductor! See you all tomorrow!
