5 history facts

Hey guys! I’ve been looking through my history book and have decided to share with you five quiz questions, one from each section of the book. I will put just the questions, and the answers at the end, so you won’t be able to see them right away. Well, anyways, let’s start with question 1!

Ancient History: What is the tallest grave in the world, and who was it for?

Medieval History: What not-so-rosy chapter in the 14th century European history is described in the song “Ring Around the Rosie”?

Renaissance History: Who was the “father of modern astronomy, physics, and science,” and why was he arrested and detained for life?

Modern History: Which three world leaders met in Yalta, in the Ukraine, and famously sat for photos at the end of WWII?

U.S. History: Who was the runaway slave who kept going back to help rescue others, regardless of her own safety?

Those are all five questions for you. The answers are below. Check out my other posts, comment, and I hope you’re 5 times smarter after this!

Ancient History: The Great Pyramid of Cheops, for the Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu.

Medieval History: The Black Plague. “Ring Around the Rosie” means the victim’s red rash. “Pocketful of posies” are the flowers that will conceal your scent. “Ashes” means the ashes from cremating. “We all fall down” represents the victims falling dead from the plague.

Renaissance History: Galileo Galilei. Galileo and Copernicus both knew that the Earth orbits the sun. However, the church believed that the sun orbited Earth. Because of his belief, Galileo was arrested.

Modern History: Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Josef Stalin.

U.S. History: Harriet Tubman. She once helped several hundred slaves escape a single raid. She was a great strategist, an ace of disguises, and lived to 91 years old.
